The Dalmatian town of Zadar has taken third place in the “Best Practice Award Programme for European Coastal Towns”, announced the European Council, reported Tportal.
Zadar was not the only Croatia town to feature in the European Council awards. The Adriatic island of Murter and Bibinje on the Adriatic coast near Zadar have received acknowlegements from the judging panel for “innovative projects” and have been selected for the final round of the competition.
Zadar received third prize jointly with Heroy in Norway after 48 applications were evaluated by the judging panel. Yevpatoria, from the Ukraine won first prize, whilst the English towns of Bournemouth and Canterbury came joint second.
The winners have been invited to an award ceremony in Blackpool, Great Britain, on 9 May.
